April 21: 3:30 p.m. An unidentified piece of a plane washed ashore on the ocean side of Sailors Haven. Debris was removed and taken to Marine Bureau headquarters in Timber Point.

 

April 23: 10:09 a.m. A motorized cart fell off of Beach Hill Walk in the Fire Island Pines after the driver got out. Fire department personnel picked the cart up and put it back on the walk.

April 26: 5:30 a.m. A 51-year-old man got lost in Sailors Haven and wound up in Point ‘O Woods. He was escorted to his Beachwood Walk home in Seaview.

 

April 30: 7:30 p.m. An injured seal was found stranded on the beach in front of the Fire Island Pines. Seal appeared lethargic and had a laceration on its head. Riverhead Foundation notified.

May 5: 8:37 p.m. A 44-year-old West Islip man jumped into the Great South Bay from the Robert Moses Causeway. New York State Troopers and New York State Parks Police helped get him out of the water. West Islip Fire Department took him to Good Samaritan Hospital.

 

May 6: 2:30 p.m. A Sound Beach man found a 3 by 2 foot section of green riveted sheet metal, possibly part of a plane fuselage, on the beach in the Fire Island Pines. Debris was taken to Marine Bureau headquarters n Timber Point.

 

4:12 p.m. A 54-year-old woman reported her dog missing from her Oak Walk home in Kismet. Dog was found and returned.

 

May 7: 2:41 p.m. A LIPA employee reported finding an unknown type of flare device on the beach in Atlantique. Emergency Services Section officers responded.

 

May 8: 8:04 a.m. A truck fire was extinguished by the Ocean Beach Fire Department in Robbins Rest.

5:39 p.m. A 24-year-old man reported that he was unable to make contact with his fiancee at their home in Miami, Fla. Officers told him to call police in Miami.

 

May 14: 10:02 p.m. Police were called for an unsubstantiated report of a fight.

 

May 16: 3:40 p.m. Police responded to an anonymous report of noise in the Fire Island Pines. Officers spoke to construction crew who refrained from further noise.

 

May 18: 4:07 a.m. Two men who were reported to be arguing and pushing each other on Bay Walk in Cherry Grove were gone upon police arrival.

 

May 19: 9:31 a.m. A 63-year-old Kismet man reported finding a shotgun shell on Lighthouse Walk and said there were duck hunters in the area during the season.

 

May 20: 12:28 p.m. A 56-year-old woman reported having an argument with her neighbor on Central Walk in Lonelyville.

 

May 21: 5 p.m. A 56-year-old Lonelyville woman reported that she is having an ongoing dispute with her 42-year-old neighbor on Central Walk, the latest argument stemming from the 42-year-old telling the 56-year-old she was going to sue her and file harassment charges because she was upset that the 56-year-old woman suggested that the 42-year-old’s child should wear a helmet while riding a bike. Both were advised to stop talking to one another after the 42-year-old became unreasonable and agitated.

 

May 22: 11:50 p.m. A report of youths yelling and fighting near the Davis Park marina was found to be unsubstantiated.

 

May 23: 1:30 a.m. A 28-year-old man reported that his boyfriend was highly intoxicated at their Lewis Walk home in Cherry Grove. Situation resolved upon police arrival.

 

7:18 p.m. Smoke coming from a loud speaker was extinguished by firefighters on Picketty Ruff Walk in the Fire Island Pines.

 

11:59 p.m. A 50-year-old man who was reported to be “acting odd” was found not to be in distress and went to bed at his Atlantic Walk home in the Fire Island Pines.

 

May 24: 7:05 a.m. A 27-year-old Massapequa man was found sleeping on Oneida Walk in Ocean Bay Park. Said he missed the last ferry. Officer drove him to the ferry dock.

 

7:25 a.m. A 50-year-old man reported that he was upset about his living conditions at his Atlantic Walk home in the Fire Island Pines.

 

9:24 p.m. A dead deer was found on the corner of Main Walk and Bay Walk in Cherry Grove. Town of Brookhaven called for removal.

 

2:53 p.m. A Fire Island Pines man reported people walking on restricted parts of the beach. Suspects were gone upon police arrival.

 

8:20 p.m. An argument was reported between two New York City men that was resolved upon police arrival.

 

9 p.m. A homeowner reported people in the backyard of his Cayuga Walk home in Ocean Bay Park who were not allowed to be there.

 

9:29 p.m. A 60-year-old woman reported a barbeque fire at her Navy Walk home in Saltaire. Saltaire Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. Some damage to the deck.

 

May 25: 8:25 p.m. A 39-year-old man reported a dispute over payment of a rental room. Renter paid with credit card. Situation resolved.

 

8:16 p.m. a 46-year-old woman reported that her husband, who was intoxicated, lost a 12 pack of beer.

 

11:36 p.m. A ferry captain reported an altercation on the 11:30 p.m. ferry to Sayville, turned the boat around, docked back at Cherry Grove and has the two men causing the disturbance removed.

 

May 26: 7:47 p.m. a stove fire was extinguished by firefighters on Black Duck Walk in the Fire Island Pines.

 

May 28: 3:10 a.m. Officers heard someone in distress and found a 40-foot sailboat with three men aboard had run aground 30 yards off the shore of Water Island and were in the surf. The voyage, destined for Rhode Island, began in Georgia.

 

1:40 p.m. A dead deer was removed by Fire Island Nation Seashore rangers from Ocean Walk in Cherry Grove.

 

May 30: 2:40 p.m. A dead deer was reported near The Schooner Inn on Bay Walk in Ocean Bay Park. Manager advised to put deer in dumpster or bury it.

 

8:04 p.m. An anonymous neighbor reported someone climbing through a window on Bayview Walk in Ocean Bay Park. Officer confirmed that the man lived there but didn’t have his keys.

 

10:30 p.m. A party of people camping on the beach was dispersed in Cherry Grove.

 

8:20 p.m. A 60-year-old Fire Island Pines man reported that the steps on the boardwalk for Fire Island Boulevard were broken twice and replaced with burned logs next to the steps.

 

May 31: 2:42 a.m. A Saltaire man reported two men fighting in front of The Kismet Inn. Both were gone prior to police arrival.

7:30 p.m. A Seaview man reported two fishing poles stolen from his front yard on Homesite Walk.

 

11:07 p.m. A 52-year-old Cherry Grove man reported that his neighbor installed seven new flags on the outside deck near his bedroom window that were making noise.

 

June 2: 1:32 a.m. An anonymous report of fireworks on the beach in Cherry Grove was unfounded.

 

June 13: 8:17 p.m. A report of kids fighting on the Burma Road in Robbins Rest was unfounded.

 

June 14: 1:35 a.m. Ocean Beach Fire Department firefighters extinguished a small kitchen fire on Frigate Walk in Corneille Estates.

 

6:36 p.m. A fight on the Davis Park ferry dock had dispersed before police arrival.

 

In addition to the above reports, police responded to seven false fire alarms, two false house alarms, one false report of a water main break, one gas leak, one found dog, one found bike, one report of illegal dumping, one lost watch, one lost wallet, one lost laptop, one lost bag, one found bag, two lost cell phones, five 911 hang-ups, 18 unsubstantiated noise complaints, 16 confirmed noise complaints, helped seven trucks struck in sand and aided 32 sick or injured people.
